Field Notes

Description:

The land snails of the genus Chilostoma Fitzinger, 1833 that includes, in Greece, the (sub)genera Cattania, Josephinella and Thiessea, are highly diversified and present high levels of endemism. During my search for the species, I came across a scientific paper describing the chilostoma subgenera in Greece, where the scientists after field research concluded tha the chilostoma genus is represented by the subgenus Thiessea, in Skyros island, Greece.
The pictured land snail was spotted on the wall of a house, in central Chora, Skyros island.
