Field Notes

Description:

I would appreciate a definite ID on this charismatic frog - one of four found near roadside streams.and all of a similar size. My first thought was a juvenile Malayan Horned Frog (Megophrys nasuta) but they did not seem to look anything like this species other than having slightly elongated eye ridges.

I believe you are correct about this being a juvenile. Of all of the Horned Frogs, this is the only species that has a dorsolateral fold and a fold extending from the eye to the shoulder of the front leg, which I can see both of these on your frog. It's just a highly variable species, so going off of color or pattern won't help you at all. The key characteristics fit for this species though.
