Description:

Small brown, looks like a baby garter, very fast, two brown spots on head over each eye. Hiding in back yard in grass/soil.

Thanks Mitch! Appears to have smooth scales. Very cool. Found two of them now, guessing there might be a nest nearby?
If the scales are keeled, Earth Snake. If the scales are smooth, Flathead Snake. At first glance it looks like a Flathead Snake.
