Field Notes

Description:

Large spider with yellowish legs and a black and brown thorax. Female wolf spiders are good mothers. They carry their egg sacs around until the babies hatch. The newborn babies ride on the mother's abdomen for protection until they are old enough to go out on their own.

Habitat:

Suburban. Likely hunting prey under flood lights at night.
