Habitat:

I found this specimens on a root of a dead "Floss Silk Tree" ("Ceiba speciosa), on a region of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Florest.

Haha, don't worry - it's tough. Chanterelles are recognisable by their 'false gills' that is their gills aren't so distinctly formed as these and appear rather as folds of flesh on the underside of the cap. They also don't grow from solid wood like this.

Not Chanterelles of any sorts, those are prime Oyster Mushroom - Pleurotus species.
