Description:

about 5" long, long neck with spikes, adult male

Habitat:

rainforest

Notes:

I nearly stepped on this insect at the camp ground at Ranomafana National Park. Seems like it's missing its front left leg.

this is an adult male of a species which belongs to the genus Parectatosoma or a very closely related genus (order Phasmatodea)
I added a few more pics to this spotting to try and help with ID. They aren't the greatest pics but they show a bit more. The common name is a creation I came up with, not sure of the proper common name.
