Description:

Red face, white cheeks and head, tawny colouredbreast and wings with bright yellow and black wing marking.

Habitat:

Woodlands, grasslands, marshes, urban parks and gardens. Goldfinches tend to specialise in eating from plants that produce small seeds: dandelion, ragworts, thistles etc. Anyone wishing to attract golfinches to their garden should try nyger seed (christmas rose seeds) or pland christmas rose and have an area of natural weeds.
