Description:

8 to 10 inches tall; one inch flowers varying in color from white to purple to almost red

Habitat:

prevalent on roadsides and fields in drier areas

Thanks for the suggestion, but I really don't think that's it. These flowers are half the size and the leaves are dusty green and slightly fuzzy. I appreciate your help and I'm still trying to find a match.
