Definitely none of the ID suggestions above, anyway...Anyone called Liam yet???
It must be a Brown Wood Owl (Strix leptogrammica), some dark phase, there are color variations in strigidae...
Your right it's definitely not a barn owl. It looks more like a barred owl or a spotted owl, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. The facial coloring isn't right for a barred owl
I'm not sure what species that is, but it is definitely not a Barn Owl
