It is a common mistake that people think that Rafflesia Flower is Corpse Flower. Scientific name for Corpse Flower is Amorphophalllus titanum. Have a look at my spotting at http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8090388 :)
oh right, I guess I should have read your description first, oopps, but I did call it! Rafflesia's are always worth it!
no problem, yea, there was a branch lying on it when we found it. It was a long days trek but worth it, I'd do it again
thanks for the reference Paul. this rafflesia looks like its about to open or is having trouble opening. sometimes a branch falls on the bud whiles its developing and causes problems.
heres a second pic of the same flower to give you an idea of scale, and check out this dandoucette's pics, plenty of examples of rafflesias http://www.projectnoah.org/users/dandoucette
Wow I've always wanted to see one in person. How big was this one that you saw?
