Wildlife Spotting

Eastern mud turtle has those light edges on the scutes as well, as does this hatchling map turtle I found, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/22642019 The pronounced ridge on the back leads me to believe not a mud or musk turtle.

We may never resolve a 100% confirmed ID, but compare to this photo of a hatchling Eastern Musk Turtle: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaptainkory/14612810389/in/pool-herpsofarkansas/ The light dots on the tips of the marginal scutes are consistent, and not a marking I recall for our Graptemys species.

It is one of the map turtles, genus Graptemys.

I agree that it is not a Snapping Turtle. It might be a baby Eastern Musk Turtle perhaps? http://herpsofarkansas.com/Turtle/HomePage

Snapping Turtles are not green when they hatch out, and that looks a bit small to be a snapper. Do you have any other pics of this little guy?
