Description:
Seal salamanders are a lungless salamander and possess slits extending below each nostril. They also have a laterally compressed tail that gives the tail a fin-like appearance. Seal salamanders are extremely variable in color and can have a similar appearance to dusky salamanders; however seal salamanders have plain bellies while dusky salamanders have speckled bellies.
Habitat:
Keeney Creek - a small creek with rocky bottom in a forested, mountainous area.
Notes:
This adult was ~ 5" in length, and aside from the yellow coloration on the head, this individual was very dark and plain.
