Description:

This guy was in an enclosure at the Cincinnati zoo and he was very mad about it. I think he was in a temporary enclosure because there was a pair of sea eagles nesting in the larger enclosure. Man, was he ANGRY! he kept charging at the glass. I felt so bad for him. This is the exact reason that I have a hard time at the zoo.

Tori, Thanks for checking up on him. Do you know from Born Free if there are plans to set him free, or is he injured or otherwise deemed "unreleasable?"

As far as I know, he was an adolescent. His mom and dad had just hatched new babies, and they put him in there as s temporary home. My friend went back to the zoo about 2 weeks after this photo was taken and he was still in this small enclosure, attacking the glass and generally angry (rightfully so). I contacted Born Free, he has since been moved into a larger enclosure.

@Tori ,write to the Born Free Foundation. They might find him a better place.

Does anyone know why the bird was in the enclosure? Is it sick, injured? Are the zoo keepers attempting to mate an endangered species? That seems to be a TINY enclosure for a bird of prey. If it keeps charging the glass, it could hurt itself, couldn't it? I'm for good zoos and aquariums but part of qualifying as a good one is watching the animals by vets, biologists or animal keepers with tons of experience with that type of animal, so the humans can treat the animal humanely. It was posted in April, any follow up on the bird's condition or habitat?
