Habitat:
The Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Florida Keys. Its range reaches as far north as Biscayne National Park, Florida, and as far south as Curaçao and Venezuela in shallow waters with temperatures between 26 and 30 °C (79 and 86 °F), and with significant water movement.
Notes:
"Once one of the most abundant species of coral in the Caribbean and the Florida Keys. Since 1980, an estimated 90-95% of elkhorn coral has been lost." I believe this is the first time I am aware of seeing this species as a large recognizable colony, which makes me rather sad.
