Field Notes

Description:

Spotted in my garden in Punta del Este in a pine tree. At first I thought this was a female Volatinia jacarina (Blue-black Grassquit). However, as was pointed out to my elsewhere, the Saffron finch female has longer stripes and the yellow stripe on the wing that can be seen here, which the Blue-black Grassquit lacks. Also, the beak would be slightly different.

Thanks for the help bayucca. Someone else (outside of Project Noah) pointed out this is a female Saffron finch (Sicalis flaveola). Thanks for thinking along, identification is hard!
Right, haha... Volatinia jacarina of course... Autocorrect...
Looks not so bad... https://www.flickr.com/photos/walterbaliero/7895439788/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/36288885@N02/5544705635/ http://www.antpitta.com/images/photos/finches/Blue-black-Grassquit-female-chapadadosguimaraes_4255.jpg
Not sure about it, but it should anyway be Volatinia jacarina, not Volatinia jacaranda.
I think this is a female Volatinia jacaranda (Blue-black Grassquit) but I'm not 100% sure. Spotted in my garden in Punta del Este in a pine tree.
