Field Notes

Description:

The tops are brown and the undersides are white with pores. Each bundle comes together at the base. Sometimes they are much paler, but generally speaking they are brown. These ones were a little frostbitten on the edges and probably some of the last ones of the season.

Habitat:

At the base of a couple large oak trees (their typical habitat) in a mixed forest. Location not exact

Notes:

Choice edible fungus.
