Description:
The pukiawe can grow into a large, dense shrub. Has sharp, needlelike leaves, dull green in color. It's fruits can range from bright red to pink to white but not edible. Grows withinin the kipuka and along the lava flow.
Habitat:
5,000-5,500 feet elevation.
Montane tropical rainforest Kīpuka.
Upper Waiakea Forest Reserve.
Lava flow in 1881.
