Description:
A solitary gray to green-capped Russula with cracked, crustose appearance. Center of cap is slightly depressed. Gills are white and crowded. Stipe is stout and white. Spore print is pale yellow. Some woodland creature has already been snacking on this specimen!
Russula parvovirescens is a highly common species occurring in the Eastern United States. It is often mistakenly identified as Russula virescens, which is strictly a European species.
Habitat:
At the base of a ridge, growing in mulch, in a dense mixed hardwood forest in Northwest Georgia.
