Field Notes

Description:

Caps: 5,11cm diam. 2.7, 2.2 height. yellow tan surface with dark brown hairy pointed scales which are easily removed. Scales are denser at centre. Small cap is convex, larger cap is flat/convex and centre is slightly depressed. Interior flesh is whitish, 1.3 thick at center and thick across cap. margin is inrolled.

Gills: attached. .5cm think in smal cap, .3cm thick in large cap (dried out?) Crowded. some partial gills from margin. Ocre-brown. spore print: rust brown.

Stipe: 8,14 cm long. 1,2.5 cm wide. width even along length. in larger stipe: top 2 cm is smooth, whitish with yellowish ridgesdescending rom some gills.. Then ragged ring. bottom of ring and rest of stipe is coloured and scaled exactly like cap.

Habitat:

growing on exposed roots of tree.
