Description:

Black bird except for the white facial shield and ivory-white beak; size of a small duck.

Habitat:

Freshwater lakes and ponds, widespread and common in Europe.

Notes:

Observed in large numbers in all surveyed wetlands during the Wetlands BIrd Count 2019.
