Field Notes

Description:

House wrens are small, compact brown birds with a fairly long, curved beak, short wings, and a long tail that they often have cocked above the line of their body. They have a very faint pale eyebrow and dark barring on their wings and tail.

Habitat:

I spotted this wren in a semi-rural backyard. She had made a home in a birdhouse and was working very hard to catch bugs to feed her babies. They went crazy chirping everytime she returned to the box with another bug.
