Habitat:

southern and tropical wetlands from the Southern U.S. down through the Amazon.

Notes:

This adult was out foraging on the floating vegetation early in the morning. It was accompanied by a young chick, and another juvenile that was in transition from the plain brown to the adult plumage. see spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/242244921
