Field Notes

Description:

Black and brown. Will let people come very close to him. I started feeding him last summer. Usually he is seen with another bunny buddy! Both of them have some what of a strangle color for a wild bunny. I havnt seen his friend in a while. May sound silly, but I am a little worried. The 2nd bunny was very visible to predators. He was black with little white feet and nose. Hopefully he will come around soon.

Species ID Suggestions

eastern cottontail

Sylvilagus floridanus

The color combination of this rabbit is consistent with a domestic breed. Most likely someone released these pet rabbits after they did not want them any more. :-(
