I went to the big Island of Hawaii just to look for that Volcano spot some of the unique things that in a blink of an eye it will disappear and sure enough after my visit Madam Pele had her Fire works. The birds the flower attracts is elusive,I was there for 5 hours no birds just bees.
Ahhh, the power of Pele! It is really a great tree and beautiful blossom. It also attracts great birds.
Thank you very much.It is an amazing Plant .Close to the crater that at times there are smoke spewing and still that tree survive.
I went in and changed a few things for you. WHen you post you need to select a category - in this case Plant, and then state where you found it. Also it helps to give the correct date, and then a name if you know it. If you dont know it people can help with identification only if they know the location. By the way my husband is Hawaiian - the blossom has a separate name from the tree!
I found this flower just few feet away from the Poo-o crater of Kilauea Volcano in the the Big Island of Hawaii. Don't know the Scientific name the local name Ohia
Please let us know where you saw your photos since this helps us help you. Thanks!
