Field Notes

Description:

Native to China. These photos were taken at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. The pandas, Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, are part of an international breeding program. They have produced one cub Tai Shan who now resides at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Wolong, China. Female pandas only ovulate once on year on average so breeding is quite a feat.
