Field Notes

Description:

Both had a black underside with dark brown and black backs up the neck. Redish and grey feet. Beaks end in white. Their heads were red, one was darker than the other.

Habitat:

In the woods next to a lake.

Notes:

They hang out in the woods waiting for fishers to drop fish parts into the woods or poor critters that get smooshed in the road.
This area became a hangout throughout the whole spring. Most sat on branches in couples. They were fun to watch.
