Birdlady, seems more sparrow-like to me! Thanks again!
Although it is difficult to tell from the angle of this photo, this is more likely the California race of the Song Sparrow, rather than a House Finch. I am going by the eye line, the type of streaks on the breast, the way the bird is perched on the grass, the overall shape of the bird. What do you think?
