Field Notes

Description:

Males measure 22-30 cm from bill to tail. Has a pronounced crest on the head. Plumage is lavender blue to mid- blue in crest, back, wings, and tail and it's face is white

Habitat:

Prefers mixed woodlands with oaks and beeches. Has adapted to human activities, occurring in parks and residential areas.

Notes:

This Blue Jay seems to enjoy bumping up against our bedroom window. The window is tinted on the inside so perhaps it's seeing his own reflection and is trying to "chase it away".
