Description:

resting in the shade of an acacia tree a family group of African elephants rest in the afternoon. Elephant herds are made up of these smaller family groups. They are tightly bonded and upon reuniting, show affection toward the larger group

Habitat:

Tarangire park - home to the largest population of elephants in Tanzania.

Notes:

Tarangire is part of a larger territory that includes Lake Manyara. Elephants congregate in tarangire during the dry season digging in the tarangire river to underground sources of water
