Notes:

My wife spotted this hawk. I was trying to get closer to it. It was in a tree eating something. When I approached it flew over lucky me. It is eating a snake! Love this shot

This would be a great spotting for the Hunters mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8463465
Snake! amazing shot! Congratulation ...
Wow thats amazing! You even caught it with a snake in its claws. Perfect!
I was thinking western red-tailed hawk as well! Superb shots by the way!
Super shot. I agree with Mitch here. A definite Red-Tailed to me, most likely a Western.
Tough angle to see the belly band, but I'm thinking Western race of the Red-tailed Hawk, which has a heavily streaked belly band. This one seems to have the dark shoulders, streaky breast, and red-tail of a Light-colored Western Adult. Its lacks the facial disk and banded tail of the juvenile harrier.
That is an AMAZING picture!!
I don't think that is a red-tailed hawk. It lacks the band around the belly. I think it may be a harrier.
