If it is a Yellow-rumped Warbler, Kansas is it's winter range/migratory route.
It has no yellow on the throat, could be juvenile?

Spotted by the creek bush in urban aera

That's a Yellow-rumped Warbler, Dendroica coronata
That looks very similar to a bird I spotted the other day, I believe it is a Pine Siskin. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/5922054 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Siskin
