Description:

overall black, mantle of long white hair around sides and back, long black tail turning white and bushy

Habitat:

rainforest

Notes:

spotted these black and white colobus in the trees right above my tent while I camped at Lake Nkuruba, a few hours from Fort Portal. they came very close though kept a safe distance, they were not pests. they were spotted together with Ugandan red colobus. Lake Nkuruba is small but supported small populations of both monkeys.
also known as Guereza black and white colobus.
I have also posted spottings of western black and white colobus.

Thanks Joseph. Yes, many primates seem to have a very intense look on their face. I've added a few more pics. Some facial close ups and some interesting photos of a black and white colobus eating the clay from the foundation of the restaurant. Must be to supplement their diet, kind of like the Macaws and other animals, in South America that go to the clay likes.
