Flatid leaf bugs - larval stage

Phromnia rosea

Definitely the flatid leaf bug but the larval stage. They are a wonderfully bizarre insect, I saw them several times in Madagascar about a month ago http://www.flickr.com/photos/victoriahillman-vikspics/6226431243/ there isn't a great deal of info out there about them but the white "Fluff" is actually for camouflage and protects the larval stage during development and in the very early stages it just looks like cotton wool on the trees until it starts moving! When they reach adulthood they are actually pink http://photos.wildmadagascar.org/images/phromnia_rosea_adult0032.shtml
fulgorid planthopper? http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2008/12/30/possibly-fulgorid-planthopper-nymphs/
Different creature ! I spotted something similar some days ago http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6902265, in leaves of a Brazilian Cherry. There were a lot of them there, in all the leaves. I think they turn into moths in another stage.
Way cool - never seen anything like this :) Is the suggested ID correct?
I am anxiously awaiting an ID on these guys...Have searched & cannot find a thing on them. Very interesting little critters.
thats very cool, we have a similar species in canada but the threads are much finer, almost like hair. these are thicker like fungi
it's part of their body so far as I know
This is one of the most unusual things I've ever seen! Is this part of their body or some kind of camouflage they use?
