We found this mushroom while walking our dog in the dog park! Gary, can you identify? From, Leda and Avalo

when it was fresh (last fall), it was a beautiful orange-red mushroom. It's a polypore - look under the cap: it has a surface of tiny red pores (little holes for the spores to come out). It's called the Cinnabar Polypore (Pycnoporus cinnabarinus). You can look it up in my book - the Audubon Field Guide to North American Mushrooms.
