Description:
Slender body and stilt-like legs, dark colour and resembling an oversized mosquito.
Habitat:
Spotted during a raining morning walk at Kebun Raya Cibodas, a 80ha area above 1.400 metres high, mix of botanical park with big trees & palms and surrounded by rainforest at the foot of Gene volcano, Java - Indonesia
Crane flies are found worldwide, though individual species usually have limited ranges. They are most diverse in the tropics, and are also common in northern latitudes and high elevations.
Notes:
Crane fly is sometimes known as daddy longlegs, the larvae of crane flies are known commonly as leatherjackets.
