Field Notes

Description:

Libellulidae; Pantala flavescens (Fabricius, 1798). Wikipedia tells us that this Wandering Glider exists pretty much all over the world (except Antartica) and has strong populations everywhere other than Europe where it is rare. I am sure that Wiki is right and I know that I frequently see this species in this part of the Philippines. So when I was saving these photos (which I took this afternoon) on my computer, I was surprised to find out that I had only taken pictures of this dragonfly once before and that was more than four years ago. I made me realise how we can take things "for granted" when we become used to seeing them every day.

Habitat:

This Dragonfly was spotted in our backyard resting on the stem of a plant.
