Description:
At 4:00 a.m. in the morning, I went into the garage, to take out a bag of garbage. As I was walking back to the garage door, that led back to the inside of my house, I spotted something green on the garage floor. I picked up this green insect with my fingers, and I brought this green insect, back inside my house with me, to study and to take some photos of it. This insect, had transparent wings. The color of this insect, is different shades of green. This insect, is one half of an inch long, and one fourth of an inch wide. This insect, had two, large, compound eyes. I held this insect between my fingers, and the color of this insect, is different shades of Green. - The adults bite, and are pests of livestock. Family: Tabanidae ( Horse and Deer Flies ) Subfamily: Tabaninae ( Horse Flies ) Crepuscularis: Active during the crepuscular hours of dusk and dawn. Size: about 18 mm. Identification: Body pale green, eyes and thorax, yellowish green. The only green Tabanid, in North America. Season: In Florida, flying from mid-March to mid-September. Food: Females feed on mammalian blood. Regarded as a pest species in Florida. Genus: Chlorotabanus: The only species in this Genus, in North America.

This insect, is not alive. - Larvae: Larvae predaceous, usually in soil, at edge of water, and in floating vegetation, occasionally in forest soil. Adults in vicinity of larval habitats.

This green insect, is not alive. The color of this insect, is different shades of green. I picked up this green insect with my fingers, and I brought this green insect, back inside my house with me, to study and to take some photos of it. I picked up this insect, and I held this insect with my fingers, and the color of this insect, is different shades of Green.
