Not sure what KIND of bumblebee. It was VERY loud. Sounded like a small weedeater! On my neighbor's peonies.

yep, Bumblebees "buzz" the flowers for releasing pollen from the anthers
Both good choices. Bimaculatus has more black, so I like that one a bit better.
Thanks for that link! Maybe "Bombus bimaculatus" ? or "Bombus sandersoni" since it's actually listed in Tennessee where I took this photo. Bimaculatus isn't listed in TN per se but it does say "south to Florida" so maybe Tennessee's included in there.
