Description:
Moths are insects that belong to the order Lepidoptera (Their bodies and wings are covered with scales) and inhabit the earth from the Jurassic period. They are characterized by their striking antennas in a filament, combs, pens, etc. Which they use to detect certain substances.
Habitat:
It is estimated that 3 out of 10 moths in the world live in the Neotropics. These photos were taken in Costa Rica, where there are between aprox. 13-16 thousand species.
Notes:
Moths are important because they provide food for birds, bats and rodents but may be a problem for agriculture.The larvae of some moths can feed on wool clothing, which can damage the laundry.
