Field Notes

Description:

This was a baby squirrel that came by my house later in the summer, it wasn't afraid of humans. It is a grey squirrel, they are very common in Maryland.

Habitat:

The grey squirrel lives all over deciduous forests in eastern North America

Notes:

I am unsure why this baby squirrel was unafraid of humans to the point that we could pick it up.

Cute but not wise to feed them. They start to expect it from humans. And sometimes will bite when not fed. We witness this and Rock Squirrels getting in hikers backpacks looking for food even when people are walking around. They become to unafraid of not just humans.
Hope he goes well. The mortality rate for young squirrels is said to be high.
