Description:

A young eagle found stranded in the water off a remote island in Maine. Unable to fly from the water, I was forced, after attempting to carry him, to corral him with my boat to shore, 200 yds away.

Great story! I'd love to hear how it ended too! This guy is definitely a Bald...they don't get their white head and tail until the 5th or 6th year. Congrats!
just did some more researched and found that bald eagles have black beaks like this one while goldens have yellow beaks... i think its a bald eagle.
How did it end? was the eagle able to jump back into the shore?
on the second picture he has a gold-ish colored nape however its beak looks a little long to be a golden eagle
nice work! but this doesn't really look like a bald eagle to me. I think it's a golden eagle
You saved this little guys life! For that, I will favorite this spotting.
Nice rescue.... Please update Binomial or Scientific ID as Haliaeetus leucocephalus by editing this spotting. You can report your birding info at following website to generate info on this bird.... http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/bald_eagle/id On East Coast Bald Eagle's presence is important... http://www.allaboutwildlife.com/american-wildlife/bald-eagle-numbers-on-the-rise/5244
Hi tuckerbliss. Since you know the species, can you complete this spotting by adding the scientific name? Thanks.
