Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly is about 2 1/2 inches tall and kept it's wings closed, but the identifying marks of the 4 spots on the wing and the orange highlights are evident. The antennae have a white tip. The facial profile reveals that it is a Painted Lady.

Habitat:

Meadows in the Central Plateau.

Notes:

Thanks someone for pointing out that one like this was a Painted Lady. I looked on the ozanimals.com under Insects to help ID and Bugguide.
