Field Notes

Description:

Approximately half inch to one inch in length. The leaves are curled onto themselves like spear points to emerge from the ground. Green leaves, brownish on the back with spots all around.

Habitat:

Base of oak trees and large pines. Coming out of mossy grounds. Minimum sunlight coming through wooden area.

Notes:

Looks like Trillium trying to pierce as they are abundant in area. Trillium population as grown tenfold in past 5 years in the Good Hart - Harbor Springs, Michigan area.
