Field Notes

Description:

The Red-banded transparent shrimp is characterized by the reddish oblique stripes against a white background. It amazingly can change its color to match its background or even become transparent.

Habitat:

Spotted in tide pool weaving in and out of green algae. Location is
Kopachuck State Park beach at low tide.

Notes:

RANGE: Southern Alaska to Northern Mexico.

Well done, Brian. That is excellent information. You could add that link to your references or notes. 3 cm is too small to eat, but I was jesting about throwing it on the barbie. Everything looks like food to me atm. I must have some sort of mineral deficiency.
Thanks Neil. These shrimp are relatively small about 3 cm. I believe they can use multiple methods of camouflage, including disruptive coloration. I've only learned about this in the last couple of days - so I'm still researching it.
