Chrysomelidae is the Family, not subfamily. Beautiful photograph!
I think you are right asergio, it's cool to see another spotting of it.
Dan, I think it is the same... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9904128
All of the above 'official' suggestions are not found in the same area as my spotting. Please take the time to look at the location of a spotting before suggesting an ID.
Thanks oxyjack, I've updated with the subfamily.
Sorry, that should say Reanna.
Deanna has it right, this is a leaf beetle (Chrysomelidae).
Thanks for the suggestion Cecillia but it doesn't quite match.
Thanks for the suggestions but I don't think it's rose chafer Clifford. It's lacking the distinct v shaped scutellum that makes a rose chafer and this was in Brazil whereas Wiki says rose chafer are in the UK.
Yeah wow, it's a beautiful beetle! Not sure if this will help but it might be one of these or at least in the family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaf_beetle and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysomelinae I would say Tansy beetle but I don't think those are found in Brazil. The leaf beetles are found worldwide.
I added another pic to this spotting but I'm still not any closer to an ID.
Yep. It's a beetle (not a jewel bug, anyway). ;) I'll keep looking.
