Description:

attractive black leaves veined in orange, terrestrial
possibly Anoectochilus chapaensis.

Habitat:

monsoon forest

Notes:

This leaves on the jewel orchid are actually more attractive than the flowers! It was in the middle of Eravikulam National park.

You're welcome Dan. It could be chapoensis but there are a few Anoectochilus in India and without the flowers it would be difficult to say for sure. I saw three spp. in Thailand in leaf and even though my guide from Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens assured me they were different, it was a leap of faith to believe him!

Gorgeous find Dan! I don't think this is Ludisia though. The reticulate patterning is more like Anoectochilus or Macodes. The flowers of some Anoectochilus are really cool too, like little skeletons!
