Thanks for the warning hopefully there are no plants like that in the Pacific Northwest but I will keep in mind while hiking now.
The whole dang thing is best avoided. I've never specifically touched the flower. All of the parts that look like they have spines hurt though.

Mr. MitchRay is it the flower to avoid or the leaves because just looking at the plant it looks like a house plant. But I guest looks could be deceiving in this case right. but scorpion are not bad remove the sting fry them and they are good for snacking.
Pobrecito! I remember getting impaled by all sorts of cacti as a kid. Desert environments are more than just a little bit prickly.
Probably a good idea. I discovered Bullnettle and scorpions in Texas on the same day. I have since been quite wary of both
