Ok thanks, I'll make sure not to get too close and mostly just avoid them. I think I'll check out some of those pages. Thanks for your help.
Just don't get too close. The thing about watersnakes is that many times you have to get a look at the belly pattern to make a positive ID. As a rule it's best not to mess with snakes up close and personal unless you've had some training on what can hurt you and what can't. By the way, welcome to Project Noah. Ok thanks I might be able to get another picture a little bit more close up, but more than likely I think it is a Water snake too.
Tough to say from that photo, but I would guess a Watersnake (Genus Nerodia) of some kind
