Field Notes

Description:

Almost papery to look at, stalked funnel shaped fungal growth. Pale yellow in colour.

Habitat:

on a tree trunk lying on the pavement surrounded by a tea stall and lots of rubbish. I first thought it was a dried flower...and looked up to spot the tree! Along the tree trunk there were smaller specimens and one looked like a small shelf, not so much a funnel (picture 4)

Notes:

Local auto rickshaw drivers who have an auto stand told me that the bigger ones had been removed a few days back by some one who claimed these are medicinal...I have no idea if this information is correct or was an attempt to get some importance ( Camera = media !)
