Field Notes

Description:

It was a cold spring day in the beginning of breeding season for this wood frog. I thought the mud-colored frog was a rock! He was still, silent and half submerged in the water. His length was around 3”.

Habitat:

Spotted in a shallow pool of freshwater at Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.

Thank you, Tukup! I'd like to see more amphibians out here in the northeast. Thornton9, you may have noticed that they are alike because they belong to the same Order! And thanks, everyone else, for the comments; they made me smile.
I've always wonderd why toads and frogs look so alike.
Nice catch Mauna. They can be so hard to see when they sit motionless. Good job. Thanks.

One of these peed on me once LOL. It's pretty though.
